One of the opening night films at Sundance 2019, The Infiltrators is a suspenseful, whip-smart mix of documentary and re-enactment. It follows a real life “infiltration” at Florida’s private for-profit Broward Transitional Center by undocumented activists from the National Immigrant Youth Alliance who allow themselves to be arrested by ICE in order to help fellow undocumented detainees reunite with their families and avoid deportation. The Infiltrators personalizes one of the most urgent problems polarizing the country.
